1. What is Workman's Compensation Insurance Fund (WCA) and who must register for it?
By law any business who employs people (doesn't mater the amount, it can be only one) must be registered for WCA. Based on the type of the business, number of employees etc, an assessment is raised by the Compensation Commissioner which is payable annually. This protects the employer/business owner against claims made against the business resulting from an injury on duty (IOD) as an IOD-form can be completed and sent to the Compensation Commissioner.
2. How does it work?
Step 1 - simply complete the form below and submit.
Step 2 - pay the R425 online via credit card or any other way.
Step 3 - send documents through as requested below.
We do the rest, as soon as you are registered with the Compensation Commissioner, you will receive an email stating your registration number. This process can take anything between 15 and 30 working days as we are totally dependent on the workload at the Department of Labour.
3. What documents are needed?
Please fax/e-mail us the following documents after completing the online form below.
- In case of a CC/Company the incorporation certificate of the business (CK1/CM1+CM29)
- In case of a CC/Company copies of the ID's of all of the members/directors.
- In case of a sole proprietor a copy of the ID of the owner of the business.
VERY IMPORTANT INFO :
- A BUSINESS CANNOT REGISTER FOR WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE IF THE BUSINESS IS NOT REGISTERED FOR UIF. TO REGISTER FOR UIF GO TO "REGISTER A BUSINESS FOR UIF WITH DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR".
What happens afterwards?
Once your business is registered you will receive a Return of Earnings form from the Compensation Commissioner which you will have to complete and submit annually.
As you are not logged in, you won't be able to complete this form.
